Jerusalem
I knew Jerusalem but I didn't connect that with Blake. I would
associate that with Tory Party conferences and to me it was "JEROOOOSALEM!!"
and I always used to think "Oh, there's that horrible song",
and it always puzzled me "What are they singing Jerusalem
for? What's the place in the Middle East got to do with it?"
All these Tories singing. And then when I started to read Blake
it was ... "Ahh!" Because I have a vision for Britain...to
do my bit and to meet up with other 'monarchs' to build an Albion
here. I like Blake's spiritual vision of that, of unity and real
power.
When you're signed to a dodgy record company, as has happened
to me, going back a few years ago, at times, the A&R man claims
your success for himself "I put that together." It's
the way it always works, the anti-creator will try and feed off
the creators. And its the same with the British institutions,
adopting a song that's against everything they stand for! One
of the things Jerusalem's about, for me, is about spiritually
making something come together. Creating a 'holy' land - connect
a few things...to become conscious and therefore build a situation,
you bring it into being, a place where, hopefully, there's a high
degree of consciousness, a high degree of love.
