"There may be a very thin line between a lot of these unknown mysteries. There may well be a psychic, or parapsychological aspect to many UFO sightings. There are obviously strange things going on in the universe that we don't currently understand and there may be many links between things which conventional researchers think are entirely separate."
Nick Pope

Nick Pope is a British Civil Servant, currently working in a job he says he finds interesting and stimulating as HEO in Evacuation and Supplies at the Ministry of Defence in London. What is more unusual about this government employee is that for three years prior to his current posting, he worked as the Secretariat (Air Staff) 2A - the Ministry of Defense's own official 'UFO Desk' where reports of sightings by the public are handled.

What is highly unusual are that his conclusions, published in his book 'Open Skies, Closed Minds' differ dramatically from the normal government line. Exposure to the raw data collected by the Ministry changed him from a sceptic to a believer in the reality of the UFO phenomenon. What to many observers of the UFO scene, was most surprising of all was that after protracted internal deliberations, the MOD eventually gave its permission for the book's publication. Could this be a tacit recognition of the validity of Nick's conclusions?

Reformed Sceptic

Nick Pope When I came into the job at the MoD I was a complete sceptic - I didn't know anything about UFO's, nor did I believe in flying saucers. But then as I went through that three years and as I went through the MoD case files, and as I read some of the UFO literature, as I went out and met some of the witnesses I began to realise that my view of the universe was not set in stone and I had to change my mind on things. I think it's the theory that best fits the evidence, although in many ways it may not be the only thing going on. I think if we ever do crack the UFO mystery we may find that there's not one simple answer. We may find that there's a whole range of answers, some of them may be nuts and bolts crafts from elsewhere, some of them may be more psychic phenomena, its difficult to say. But yes, certainly some are craft from elsewhere, from other intelligent civilisations in the universe.

UFO's and Quantum Mechanics

Conventional science always frowns on UFOlogy - probably because they use the word 'ology' at the end of it and they don't like that. But if these scientists would look closer at their own world, at the world of quantum mechanics, quantum physics, they'd see that there are things going on in the quantum universe which defy all the known laws of physics. You have cause and effect not being linked, you have particles coming into existence for no reason at all - no causal reason. You have the whole business of particle/wave duality and you have the whole business of particles somehow being able to sense what other particles are doing at a distance which simply wouldn't be possible because you'd need something that would travel faster than the speed of light. Einstein referred to this as "spooky action at a distance". In many ways modern science, when you think of quantum mechanics, is becoming closer and closer to some parapsychology.
